Stephen - Grimsby in Picture - Peoples Park
People's Park was the first real public Park in the town, the land was gifted by Edward Heneage, Liberal MP for Grimsby in 1881 and it opened in 1883. Situated roughly in the middle of the town, as well as the open spaces and lake, you can visit the Floral Hall and the Animal House or just sit back and relax and feed the waterfowl and ducks.
Use the links below to go to the NE Lincs Council Website concerning the Heritage Lottery Funding secured to restore the Park to it's original Victorian splendour. Work totalling £2.7 million was completed in 2008. More pictures will be posted showing completion of the work; the aerial photograph above was taken before the renovation.

Update April 2009
The following photos were taken in April 2009 and shows the transformation from the after renovation work drabness of early 2008 into the very colourful Spring scenes that have gradually evolved. A successful result for the money, time and effort put into this project.
Update May 2010
The following pictures were taking in May 2010 and show the construction of a wooden gazebo and also a couple of shots of the fine display of crocuses.
There are also some pictures of the interior and exterior of the floral hall which is undergoing a makeover.
