Sep 2005 - Etruria to Whaley Bridge
This week I was crewing with fellow co-owners the Rodwells from USA., we walked up to the impressive Chirk Castle (well worth a visit) and also visted Ellesmere, Whitchurch and Kidsgrove.
Visted Congleton, Whaley Bridge and also had a stroll up to the "Cloud" (a 100 feet high Fell near Congleton) to take in it's superb views.
Cruised up to the Froghall Terminus on the Caldon Canal via the very short stretch of the River Churnett. Willoughby is too big to get through the Froghall Tunnel to the basin and the restored Lock 1 of the defunct Uttoxeter Canal (it's line is clearly visable). Moved down the Trent and Mesey a short way to moor at Trentham Lock which was closed for gate replacement.
