Marshall's Flour Mills, Grimsby 1907
Hello, I am Kathleen Fisher the youngest daughter of Harry and Ettie Tappin, when my brother David mentioned the idea of a Family Website my first thoughts where "What on earth could I contribute!" We, being a large family group, do share our leisure pursuits and consequently lots of us are into photography, walking, gardening, writing, narrowboating, looking around churches, plus many more interests too numerous to mention. So that left me with the problem of finding something to share with you that no one else was likely to put on this site.

The solution came about whilst doing a piece for the Family News called "Postcards from the Past". I will share with you my growing collection of early and not so early cards with local Lincolnshire scenes, I do hope you enjoy looking at them. As at 6 March 2011 I have 295 cards. The pages will be updated as my collection steadily expands; the images are mainly of Grimsby, Cleethorpes and Lincoln but include the outlying surrounding areas. It should be borne in mind that an image may have been used on postcards sold over a number of years so the postmark year many not necessarily be when the photograph was taken. Also, it was common practice to later add colour to an original black and white image.

Pictured above is a card from around 1907 showing what must have been the most impressive set of buildings in Grimsby. It shows the Marshall's Victoria Flour Mills in Victoria Street now sadly reduced to the two blocks in the centre foreground (without the clock tower) and the taller main building in the background.
